A stronger pelvic floor can mean more sensation and more control during sex, and in our experience many women who come for leaking notice that second change. BTL says the chair supports sexual wellbeing and quotes a 76% improvement in sexual satisfaction and desire from data on file; no US clearance names sexual function, and we say so plainly. A course is six sessions of 28 minutes over three weeks, sitting fully clothed, at Emsella Clinic, 8 Devonshire Place, with the price in writing at a free consultation.
What the chair does
HIFEM energy from the seat makes the whole pelvic floor contract thousands of times a session, and a floor that has weakened after childbirth or with age regains tone over the course. Sensation during sex, the grip of the vaginal muscles and the control of orgasm all involve that floor, and pelvic floor exercises are a common first step for them. The chair trains the same muscle harder. Dryness, pain or a loss of desire with another cause need their own assessment, and the clinician says so at the free consultation.
The evidence
A 2024 randomised study of 50 postmenopausal women with a weak pelvic floor and sexual difficulties found sexual function scores improved more with the chair added to training than with training alone. A 2026 study and a 2025 review of HIFEM for the pelvic floor also report on sexual function scores. BTL's 76% figure is its own data on file, not a published trial, and we say so. The does it work page sets out every study.
The course and booking
Six sessions, twice a week over three weeks, with the symptom score measured before, at the end and at the six-month review, and in our experience a top-up every six months or so holds the result.
